Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this calculator?

Select a satellite sensor, then choose a spectral index. The calculator shows the sensor-specific formula and required bands. Enter surface reflectance values (typically 0–1) for each band and click Calculate. The gauge shows where your result falls on the interpretation scale.

What reflectance values should I enter?

Enter surface reflectance values from atmospherically corrected imagery (Level-2 products). Values typically range from 0 to 1. Raw digital numbers from Level-1 products must be converted to reflectance first using the calibration coefficients in your imagery metadata.

Can I share my calculation?

Yes — the URL updates as you select a sensor and index. Click the Share button to copy the link. Anyone who opens it will see the same sensor and index pre-selected, ready to enter their own band values.
